A New York Debut for Outer Island

Posted Tuesday, Jan 04th, 2011 at 10:27am

After our Portland book reading and signing, my mom and I headed off to NYC. On December 11, we had a book reading in her studio. Molly Shea did a great job of setting up the studio for the reading including putting out yummy eats and an Outer Island plate.

Sue and Bernie waited for the people to arrive: NYC2

Sue wore her mother's sperm whale tooth necklace (I kid you not) for the event. NYC3

The many faces of Bernie: NYC4

We also dug out her mother's embroidered black shawl: NYC5

Here is a close up of the three generations: NYC6

Leonard awaits: ![NYC7](http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5009/5322203464_26c1fd1863.jpg

Dancing at the pure wonder of this book finally coming into fruition after 83 years: NYC8

The crowd arrives including a few who knew Leonard Weil and two of my old friends (from first grade!) Ben Posel and Charis Conn. NYC9

Love the photos. I would love a shawl like that ( to try and dance flamenco) and the sperm whale tooth necklace awesome. Great publication dance too.
