Many of you know that I have been relishing my grandfather's writing about Outer Island - an island he bought in 1927. I'm delighted to have just found 4 negatives of me on the island! It was sold when I was 3 and I have no direct memory of it although it has informed who I am and what stirs my heart. Never underestimate a toddler's perceptions and understanding. Here are the pix:

Sara, Your comment about a toddler's perceptions and understandings is profound. I am tied to the woman who cared for us when we lived in Holland. I speak to her regularly. She relishes our time together when I was 2, I listen to tales of aging. We often laugh at how much we are the same. I think back to my time in Holland, a time I can't remember, that made me who I am.

It makes sense. Some of the most profound interactions I've had have been with very young ones.
On another note, I want to give credit for these wonderful pictures - my mom, Susan Weil, took these fabulous photos.
